So after 3 or 4 cards {and some frustration} I finally stuck with this little cutie. See below for how I finally achieved satisfaction…
I actually had to call up Dawn {yes I’m spoiled like that!} to get the technique just right. If you check out her post you will see she gives a great demonstration with post-it notes and step by step. I was having difficulty finding the perfect stamp base setting for using the fabulous Woodgrain background – when viola! I realized I had a stack of paper napkins sitting on my table next to me as I stamped! The cushion of about 10 napkins was just perfect and I got the rustic feel I was trying to achieve around my circle mask for the base of the flower. And I was able to stamp over the edges without worry because I just threw away the top napkin once I was complete.
So good luck if you do try this fabulous technique…and if all else fails just pull out some old napkins! And for the cutie little butterfly I used the smaller butterfly stamp from Woodgrain Silhouettes and cut out a die little butterfly and then stamped over that with the larger butterfly from the Additions set. So simple and so cute!
Supplies:
– Stamps: Wplus9 Woodgrain Silhouettes & Additions
– SU’s Kiwi Kiss, Melon Mambo, and Lavender Lace Ink & Paper
– SU’s Whisper White Craft Ink used for sentiment with a bit of white embossing powder
– Small pearls from Michael’s
SUCCESS, m'dear! For someone who's never played with masking, you sure could have fooled ME! {I was actually scratching my head, wondering if I had missed one of the smaller butterflies with that look of detail! HA HA!} Such a great idea! This card is A-dorable! I love your choice of stamps and colors and may I just say, YUMMM! Great job!
oh my.. this is fabulous… love it! I can't wait to get my stamps.. they are on their way!
