Ok so I’ll get to the real meat of this post…this month’s wPlus9 color cue was picked by me!! How fun… I kept bugging poor Dawn to get the swatches to me early since I had to do the project way in advance with the move. I was craving doing a St. Patty’s day card – since I have a LOVE of all things Irish…especially their drinking habits sometimes…ha ha! (just kidding) but I do have an Irish background…and the super FAIR skin to prove it π
The colors are a perfect twist to introduce Spring back into my style so here we go…
Check out that funky wish for a Leprechaun! I started this card with a gray card stock base and stamped it with a large script stamp with White Craft Ink {Stampin’ Up!} and rubbed it all around to give it a “white washed” look {addicted to this messy technique lately!}
I then stamped some white card stock with some light green shamrocks {wPlus9’s All Occasion Tags Stamp Set} and the month of March & number 17 {wPlus9’s Postmarked Stamp Set} and some more messy green ink…yeah I got a lil carried away with the messy look with this card….
Used a edge punch {EK Success} to add a funky cut out to the right side of the white piece of card stock. And then layered some fun ribbons around the cut out. I didn’t have any gray ribbon but wanted to accent the card stock…so I did a super fancy {NOT} technique of rubbing lightly with black ink on the ribbon to get it to match the gray (guess that art degree paid off for something).
Finished the card off with the fabulous new All Occasion Label Designer Die cut and stamped the sentiment to surround it out {All Occasion Tags Stamp Set} and finally popped one more lil shamrock to call it a day. What do you think? I think it’s a fun and funky little tribute to the good ol’ St. Patrick’s Day!
Make sure to stop by the other fabulous ladies’ projects on the Wplus9 Design Team for this month’s Color Cue inspiration…and be sure to play along with all of us… See you there!
love your card, thanks for the sweet comment on my 30th bday card…and don't worry, 30's not all that bad! π
So fun, Kerrianne! And just in time for St. Patty's Day! LOVING all that shabby distressing and gorgeous stamping! And congrats on your new home! Woohoo!
If ya can't tell, me lady – I'm typin' with a wee-bit of an Irrrrish brogue, to tell ya, and this ain't no blarney – your card ROCKS, as if it were U-2, in the flesh! I'm SUCH a lover-o-the plaid and all things Irish {Yep, it's in my genes, too!}…and THIS palette – Ohhhh, heavens to Beatrice – I luv it! YOUR inspiration is ova-the-top of the leprechaun hill -as you may know I'm a huge fan of do-it-yourself backgrounds and such! THANKS for sharing this fun palette and your divine talent with the rest of us! Lucky US!
Cute card Kerrianne! I love the fresh, zingy springtime feel ;)Hope you're getting lovely and settled in your new place! Hugs, Ruth S
