Baby Betty’s Nursery

I’ve been meaning to share my baby girl’s nursery photos. Who knew having a new baby would be so time consuming…HA! Now 12 weeks later I finally have a free minute to do so. I had SO much fun decorating this room and would love to share it with all of you!

We are currently renting a house (and hopefully closing on a new home in December) so I knew I couldn’t get too permanent with the design. My new best friend turned out to be those command hanging hooks & picture hangers. I used them to hang just about everything in the room. Including the Baby Shower invitations.

With a simple grey base with a white chair rail, I wanted to use white furniture and bright color accents. The only two “new” pieces in her nursery are the rocking chair (Babies R Us) and the crib (Target). The rest were refurbished pieces from friends, including the rug from Urban Outfitters.

I made the fabric bunting out of scraps of fabric and ribbons left over from the bedding my mother sewed. She did such an amazing job!

She even made this gorgeous diaper stacker to match:

I really didn’t have a “theme” with the nursery. Just went with colors I love and pieces from my own nursery. I wanted a vintage girly feel for sure.

Including this music box that was mine when I was a baby, and a vintage wall art frame from an antique store.

And probably my favorite piece in the room is the gorgeous needlepoint my own grandmother made for me. My mother gave it to me when we announced our pregnancy and I had it framed for Betty.

I’m so pleased with how it turned out. I think Betty loves it as well! I had so much fun…maybe I’ll do it again some day soon…now that’s funny!

Where’s Kerrianne and her cards? In case you are wondering why this poor little blog has been so light on content lately, I’ve been busy “crafting” away a little one in my tummy. I am almost to the 3rd trimester (2 weeks to go) and I seriously can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. To sit back and realize it will be June in a week blows my mind.

Before Baby Bowen, I was able to juggle a very demanding full time job, 2 step kids, and a blog with crafty cards. Unfortunately, with work getting even crazier, and pregnancy taking the energy out of me…you see where we have ended up. I hope you will still follow along with me when I do get to post, and I really do want to make it more of a priority!

I’ve actually found humor in some of the delirious times so hopefully I can share more of that with you in the future. I will still be playing along with WPlus9’s beautiful releases and hope to get some time this summer to play along with more challenges. I hope this finds you well…and know that I still use my lunch break to scope out all of the beautiful blogs out there. (due to the crazy firewalls at work I can’t comment on them though!)

25weeks

In baby updates our little girl is growing fast and I can’t believe we only have 3 months to go! I feel her more and more every day and can’t wait to meet her. We’ve decided on a name and I’m in love with it already. June 29th we will be doing maternity photos and I can’t wait!

2012 in Review

Happy New Year!! Check out how awesome 2012 was here at Retro Girly Creative:

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 15,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals

Click here to see the complete report.

And none of that would be possible without all of YOU wonderful readers!

And that’s not all…here are some more “personal” highlights of 2012:

  • January 1: Engaged to the Love of My Life
  • August 24: Turned the big 3-0
  • August 30: Promotion to Senior Designer
  • October 29: Winner of World Card Making Day
  • November 18: Lost 30 pounds in 6 months with Weight Watchers
  • December 9: Became Mrs. Bowen

Just a heads up that the WPlus9 August Release has been pushed back a few days. We will begin sharing the (fabulous) new sets on August 5th.

If you just can’t wait till then…make sure to stop by Dawn’s Blog and check out some sneak peeks!

I can’t believe it’s already August. Where has this year gone? Crazy we will be getting married in 4 months.

Here is a super cute wallpaper calendar from Chic Type I hope brightens up the last little bit of summer days drifting away.

Fabulous Friday

Hope you are having a FABULOUS FRIDAY!

I know I am, so ready for the weekend for sure. Wanted to share a couple of fun updates…

First of all…I am SO flattered to have been selected as the winner for CASE Study’s Challenge #100 for this card.

And in some more personal news…Weight Watchers and a Wedding (me trying to lose weight for our upcoming wedding) has been going great! I am now down 23lbs, and have lost 2 inches in my waist, and 1 inch in my hips. WOOP WOOP!!! The best part is I feel fantastic. I’ve been working out twice a week with a personal trainer and some co-workers. (one of the perks of my company they provide a gym & FREE trainers!) – so spoiled. My goal is 40 before the big day…so half way there!

Our trainer is so motivational and she sent us this quote this week that I just had to create a fun little poster with:

I am selling this motivational print file on my new section in my Etsy Shop – Printable Prints for just $5
