Friday Fun

I know I probably say this a ton…but I am SO happy it’s Friday. It’s been a tough week. I didn’t even have time to make any Mother’s Day Cards this year. {tsk tsk}

Just wanted to wish you and yours a wonderful Mother’s day weekend. And share this adorable card my Father sent me for my “first” Mother’s Day 🙂

Lovely

It’s a lovely time of year…love and romance just around the corner. Valentine’s Day…and all the fun that Spring brings with new beginnings. Here is a sweet little card I made for our wedding coordinator at the venue:

I really love how this card turned out. Simple cream card stock and pink and aqua hues really pop on the card. And that sentiment I just love from WPlus9’s Quite Like You.

This card is an entry for:

2012 in Review

Happy New Year!! Check out how awesome 2012 was here at Retro Girly Creative:

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 15,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals

Click here to see the complete report.

And none of that would be possible without all of YOU wonderful readers!

And that’s not all…here are some more “personal” highlights of 2012:

  • January 1: Engaged to the Love of My Life
  • August 24: Turned the big 3-0
  • August 30: Promotion to Senior Designer
  • October 29: Winner of World Card Making Day
  • November 18: Lost 30 pounds in 6 months with Weight Watchers
  • December 9: Became Mrs. Bowen
  • December 14: Honeymoon in Tennessee

Can you say AMAZING! We are so very blessed…and as it turns out 2013 seems to be headed in the same direction! Happy New Year! May 2013 bring blessings & love your way 🙂

WPlus9 December Release Day 3

Welcome back! Hope you are enjoying this release from WPlus9 as much as we are! Just seriously too much fun with these adorable sets.

Today we are debuting 2 more stamp sets & a coordinating die cut:

  • Damask Delight Stamp Set & Die Cut
  • Quite Like You Stamp Set

Can you say LOVE? I am a huge sucker for Damask. I have curtains, aprons, just about everything you can imagine I probably have in Damask. I just love the elegant feel of the pattern and the regal vibe it evokes.

This card was inspired by my love of mixing mustard green with black & damask. Super simple & incorporates the Damask Delight Stamp Set, a couple of the coordinating die cuts, and the sentiment from Quite Like You. And that tag that the sentiment is nested on is from our preview on Day 1, Clear Cut Stackers: Rounded Rectangles.

day3-1

Another fabulous feature of these stamps is the gorgeous patterns they create. And the best thing about Damask is you don’t have to be a perfectionist. It just looks so regal! And ever so easy with some black ink. I embellished the bottom portion of the card with some fun patterned paper and stamped the “True Love” sentiment from Cupids Bow.

Boutonnieres

Hello Blog world…Sorry I’ve been so quiet as of late. Between wedding planning / work / family / and an oyster shell through my foot over Labor Day weekend, my life has been even more hectic than usual! I did survive my encounter with the crusty little bastard after jumping off my fiancé’s boat in Crooked River, GA. Four stitches, a tetanus shot, and lots of pain meds later I have this little *souvenir* to share…

Yep that little beauty was all up inside my poor little foot. I’m thinking about making a necklace out of it. And then of course having an oyster roast!

Well on to the real reason for this post. I’ve been meaning to show off the boutonnieres I created for our upcoming wedding. Why yes…it’s only 3 months away!! {{time to start freaking out!}}

Ok so I was inspired from some different styles I found on Etsy and here is what I came up with:

Super simple and I LOVE the way they turned out 🙂 All it took were some crafty goods from Michaels including:

  • Paper Gardenias (from Wedding section pack of 12 for like $5)
  • Speckled Feathers (bag of like 500 for $3)
  • 1 Roll of Ribbon (Apple Green from Michael’s 360 Brand $3)
  • Flower Tape (Dollar Store $1)
  • Pearl Tipped Pins (Pack of 50 at Dollar $1)

Grand Total: 12 Boutonnieres for $13

And I have tons of feathers left over I’m using with the invitations. Pretty genius thought I had speaking of those…what better way to embellish something you have to (pay) to mail! They are light as a feather…Brilliant!

Hope you are having a great TGIF!
